Salmon Burgers with Remoulade

When it comes to salmon, I feel there’s no wrong way for it to be prepared. I’ve ate it in sushi, as salmon croquettes, salmon salads, etc. However, when I started making salmon burgers, they immediately became one of my favorite ways to prepare and eat salmon. Being a big fan of sandwiches and seafood, I’m able to truly appreciate this dish.

Growing up, I found joy in my grandmother’s salmon croquettes. She would prepare them using eggs, onions, bell pepper and flour. She will then fry them on both sides, and serve them with white rice. It was one of my favorite meals growing up, and also has a lot to do with my love for salmon.

What are salmon burgers

My version of salmon burgers consists of salmon patties made from fresh salmon, mayo, dijon mustard, bread crumbs, dill, parsley, cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder and Worcestershire sauce. Lastly, serve them on toasted brioche buns with lettuce, tomato and homemade remoulade.

What is remoulade sauce

Remoulade sauce is a creole sauce. It is made with mayo, mustard, hot sauce, cajun seasoning, horseradish and lemon juice.

You will find remoulade sauce served with mostly creole-prepared seafood. It’s very similar to tartar sauce. Alternatively, mayo can be substiuted for remoulade if it’s not appeasing to your taste buds.

What to serve with salmon burgers

Salmon burgers are great with potato chips or fries. Not to mention, they’re great to eat by themselves. I prepared homemade chips with ours, and it was the perfect combination!

Let remoulade sauce sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before serving.  This will knock some of the chill off before you put it on your burger.
