Garlic Parmesan Wings

Football season is back, so it’s time for delicious game day snacks! No matter the occasion, if you bring out these garlic parmesan wings, they will be gone in a short period of time. The garlic and parmesan flavors together is the perfect combination. Try these and you won’t order wings for takeout again. Well, at least not garlic parmesan wings.

What are garlic parmesan wings

Garlic parmesan wings are oven fried, then tossed in a garlicky parmesan sauce. Also, I serve these wings with a garlic, parmesan dipping sauce.

How to prepare

Because these wings are oven-fried, very little oil is needed. In a bowl, coat the wings with oil using your hand or a large spoon. Next, season your wings. I use salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika. Use the same method of using your hand, or a large spoon to make sure each wing is thoroughly seasoned.

Next, the wings are coated in baking powder instead of flour. Baking powder will give the wings a crisp without an enormous about of breading. By no means, do not use baking soda. Baking soda will not work. Not to mention, the taste and texture will be horrible. So, you’ve been warned.

Add the wings to a 400 degree preheated oven and let them cook for 45-minutes. The wings will be golden brown and crispy.

Parmesan garlic butter sauce.

This is the most important part of these wings. You can’t have these wings without this butter sauce. The butter sauce is made with melted butter, minced garlic, freshly grated parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. After the wings are removed from the oven, they are tossed in this flavorful sauce and served.

Parmesan dipping sauce

I also make a garlic, parmesan dipping sauce that is made with mayo, parmesan cheese, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, water, salt and pepper.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. wings drums and flats
  • 2 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Garlic butter sauce

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced about 1 tablespoon
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, plus more for garnish
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp dried parsley, plus more for garnish

Parmesan dipping sauce

  • 1 cup mayo
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced about teaspoons
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1/3 cup Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • salt if needed

Instructions

  • If using whole wings, separate the drums from the flats. Skip this step if wings are already separated.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • In large bowl, season wings with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika and baking powder. Use your hand, or a large spoon to make sure all wings are thoroughly seasoned.
  • Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, and place a wire rack on top. Place wings on rack and bake in oven for 45-minutes. Wings should be golden brown and crispy.
  • To make butter sauce, in a small bowl or measuring cup, add melted butter, minced garlic, black pepper, pinch of salt, parsley and parmesan cheese. Whisk until mixed. If butter starts to separate before you toss it in your wings, just whisk it again. Taste and more salt if needed.
  • Add wings to a large bowl and toss in butter sauce. Garnish with more parmesan cheese and optional parsley. Serve with parmesan dipping sauce or sauce of choice.

Parmesan dipping sauce

  • In a small bowl or measuring cup, add mayo, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, black pepper and parmesan cheese. Whisk until mixed. Add water and whisk again. If the consistency is still too thick, add more water until desired consistency is reached. Taste and add salt if needed.
