These chicken cheesesteaks are made with seasoned chicken breasts, seasoned veggies and provolone cheese, served on a hoagie roll, along with my homemade garlic aioli. These are perfect for game days, or even a quick weeknight meal.
I love a good sandwich. And, this chicken cheesesteak recipe is one of my favorites. I make this sandwich at least twice a month because it is just that irresistible.
Ingredients
- Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- All-purpose seasoning – this is used to season the chicken. My favorites to use are Dan-o’s Original and Kinders Buttery Steakhouse. However, if you can’t get your hands on either of these, feel free to use your favorite all-purpose seasoning. Also, you can simply mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and an dried herb (thyme, oregano, basil, etc.) to create your own all-purpose seasoning. But, it’s important to not go heavy with the herbs.
- Grapeseed oil – Olive, avocado or canola can be used as well.
- Unsalted butter
- Yellow bell pepper
- Red bell pepper
- Yellow onion
- Provolone cheese slices – I prefer not to use smoked provolone, but if that’s all you can find, it’s fine to use.
- Hoagie rolls – the perfect rolls are so important for this recipe. I prefer hoagie rolls from the bakery section of the grocery. Currently, I get my hoagie rolls from Publix. If your local store doesn’t have a bakery or you can’t get fresh hoagie rolls, Arnold’s and Pepperidge Farm are great options as well.
- Garlic aioli – While this is optional, my recipe for garlic aioli will definitely take this sandwich to the next level. But mayo or your favorite condiment will work as well.
