2lbsshave or thinly sliced rib-eye, sirloin or strip steak
unsalted butter
olive or grapeseed oil
1medium onion, sliced
2green, yellow or red bell peppers, sliced
1 1/2tspsalt
2tbspgarlic powder
1tsponion powder
1tspblack pepper
2tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2cupshredded white cheddar
6-8slices of provolone
Instructions
Slice steak into thin, small pieces, if didn't purchase pre-shaved or sliced meat.
Heat olive oil and 2 tbsp. butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and peppers and sauté for 5 minutes, or until tender. Remove and set aside.
To same skillet, add the steak. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and Worcestershire sauce. Sauté and cook steak for 5 minutes, or until no visible pink. Stir in shredded white cheddar until melted.
Stir in cooked veggies, and layer with provolone slices until all meat is covered. Turn off heat and cover while you toast hoagie rolls. The heat will melt cheese slices.
Over medium heat, add 1 tbsp. of butter to a skillet. Slice hoagie rolls halfway through. Toast rolls on each side to liking.
Assemble sandwiches by adding condiments of choice, along with meat, veggie and cheese mixture. Serve immediately.
Notes
Prior to slicing meat, place it in freezer for 30 minutes. This will make the meat firm, which will make it easier to slice.
